I’m in a remote part of Australia tonight and even remoter tomorrow. It’s been a long time since I went for an overnight bushwalk. Reminiscent of the life I used to lead before I started my own business.
As I left town yesterday I had trouble disconnecting. One last thing - a training video for staff. I locked away my laptop and declared my work finished and the break commencing.

Then a quick check of emails and a short text. A few hours into the journey, and back in range, I remembered one thing and quickly jotted a note down and sent it. Another quick email check when next in range, more from habit than any specific reason.
Noticing this today, I am reminded of a comment made to me recently: clearly, ‘work’ is reinforcing for you, but what else is? There are other activities which have all sorts of immediate and longer term benefits to me. These things that make a richer life.
So in the spirit of switching off from work and recalling the other things in my life that I once spent more time on (friends, family, Country, activity), I am keeping this post super short and signing off now.
I head into the bush for an overnight hike, no phones, just me and 5 others in the wild. See you on the other side.
Cheers
Sophie
